How to Assemble Home Solar Panels Quick and Easy

Step 1: Build a wooden container for your solar panels
The first thing you should keep in mind is that you need a container for the solar cells of your panel. Although there are all sorts of materials you can use for building a container, your most affordable and user-friendly choice would be wood.
The next thing to decide on is a layout. A box-like design is the quickest layout to use for your container. But again, it’s up to you to decide if you want something more complex. Just make sure that you’re using the ideal dimensions for your home solar panels.
Plywood would work well as the back of your container. Square wood about ¾ inches thick would be adequate for the container’s sides. Besides the back and the sides, you need more wood to act as substrate. The substrate would be used for attaching the solar cells to the container. For the substrate, you can use the most affordable fibre board you can find, but other types of woods may serve just as well. It’s really up to your choice.
Finally, you’ll need covers for the containers of your home solar panels. Covers must be clear or transparent. For this reason, you’ll need to use something like lexan or plexiglass to create covers. Once again, be sure that you have the correct measurements noted down for your cover before painting and screwing the cover onto the box.
Step 2: Drill holes for wiring when you assemble home solar panels
Drill the ideal-sized hole for wires to get in and out of the box. You’ll need these wires to connect your solar panels to your electrical grid.
Step 3: Solder solar cells
Once you have the holes ready for the wiring, move on to your system’s solar cells. Glue them in place before wiring them together. Home solar panels must have 36 solar cells for each panel. This can then generate about 3 to 4 AMPs.
If you’ve purchased pre-tabbed solar cells then so much the better, as you’ll have an easier time gluing and soldering the tabs rather than the cells themselves.

Diodes will ensure that power is flowing out of your panels or at least pursue a single preset direction. You should not use diodes, however, if your panels are connected to batteries and you wish to have the batteries drained of their power at night.
